David has worked as a Drama Workshop Leader and Acting Coach throughout Surrey and West London. He has taught drama at a number of schools, dance schools and weekend theatre schools, as well as having 18 years experience of coaching pupils for L.A.M.D.A drama examinations. As a Drama Consultant, David runs workshops for children of all ages and provides INSET for school teachers. He has also lectured in Drama in the Further Education sector. David currently works part-time for St Georges Junior School in Weybridge, where he is Curriculum Leader for Drama.
David runs Kingston Junior Drama Company, an independent theatre group for young actors aged 10 - 16. KJDC offers high quality drama training and regular performances. They present a range of original drama alongside new adaptations of literary classics. The focus of the work is on the creative development of young artists, and the fostering of a life-long enthusiasm for drama. The company was established in 2007.
Many of David's pupils work professionally.
He is the writer of numerous plays for children all of which he has directed with casts of young people from the London area. He has also written original scripts for 11 musicals for children alongside songwriter Jane Marlow.
David's own acting credits include: U.K tours of The Wind in The Willows, and A Christmas Carol, various repertory seasons, pantomimes and a one-man play.
On the fringe David has directed The Bear by Chekhov and Mountain Language by Pinter.
David is a member of EQUITY. He is currently on the Executive of Kingston Arts.
David is also a licensed chaperone, and has worked extensively as a consultant on Child Protection in the Performing Arts industry.
